Xiaomi has launched it's "Desh Ka Smartphone" in India, which is none other than the Redmi 5A which was launched in China a few months ago.
The first five million units of the Redmi 5A 2GB RAM variant with 16GB storage will be sold for Rs. 4,999 and when that stock is exhausted, it will be priced at Rs. 5,999. There is a more powerful variant as well with 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage priced at Rs. 6999. Both variants come with expandable storage with a dedicated microSD card slot.
Coming to the rest of the specs, nothing has changed from the Chinese variant. You have a 5-inch HD IPS display up front along with a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Under the hood, the Redmi 5A chugs along with the Snapdragon 425 entry-level processor and Adreno 308 GPU. At the back, there's a 13-megapixel camera which also supports phase-detect autofocus but a less wide aperture at f/2.2.
All this comes in a metal unibody shell which is just 8.35mm in thickness and carries a 3000 mAh battery inside. The Redmi 5A will be available from December 7th at 12 noon from Flipkart, Mi.com, as well as Mi Home stores. Later it will also make its way to Mi Preferred Partner stores.
