Xiaomi has been on a roll, after toppling Samsung as the leading smartphone brand in India, the company is now aiming to introduce an ultra-low-budget phone called the "Desh ka Smartphone".The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been teasing ‘Desh ka Smartphone’ for quite some time now. They are going to launch the device tomorrow (November 30).
It has become quite clear that the upcoming device will go on sale as a Flipkart exclusive. Going by the various teaser videos and images the company posted online, we expect the new offering to come up with large battery and multitasking capabilities. There is nothing wrong to assume that the device will have support for native Indian languages. All the speculations started boiling up when Xiaomi India Vice-President Manu Kumar Jain revealed the development of Desh ka Smartphone last week.
Following the same, the official account of the company posted a teaser video depicting the power capability of the device. If we take the overseas scenario of the company, the new device might be Redmi 5A or a slight variant of it. The phone already hit the Chinese market at a price of CNY 599 (around Rs. 5800). It features a 5-inch HD display and packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz. The 2 GB RAM is accompanied by 16 GB onboard storage. When it comes to the optics front, the back features a 13-MP sensor with a f/2.2 aperture lens and selfie camera sports a 5-MP sensor of f/2.0 aperture.
It hasn’t been so long since Xiaomi released the Nougat based MIUI 9. And, the Redmi 5A also runs on it. Xiaomi is witnessing insane marketing growth in India. Last month, they have risen to the top, sharing the number one spot with Samsung. Moreover, the company even opened its third manufacturing plant in Noida, Uttar Pradesh for producing ‘Made in India’ power banks." The device will be a Flipkart exclusive.
Going by the various teaser videos and images the company posted online, we expect the new offering to come up with a large battery and good multitasking capabilities. Support for native Indian languages is also expected.
Speculation is ripe that Xiaomi will be launching a rebranded variant of the Redmi 5A in India. The phone is already available in China with a price tag of CNY 599 or about Rs. 5800. Xiaomi would surely be looking a much lower price point to appeal to first-time smartphone buyers and feature-phone converts.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5A features a 5-inch HD display running on the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz. There's 2GB RAM on the device with 16GB onboard storage which is expandable. At the back, you get a 13-megapixel camera with a f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP camera in the front. The phone is expected to launch with MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat.
The company has a lot to celebrate, apart from just rising to the top of the sales charts in India. Recently, Xiaomi also opened its third manufacturing plant in India located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The first few products to roll out of the factory include 2 new powerbanks which support fast charging. The Mi Powerbank 2i battery-packs are now available from the Mi Store in India and soon will be sold offline as well.
