YU today jumped head-on into another product category, a Compact Photo Printer dubbed YUPIX. It takes about 60 seconds to print a photograph in high-quality and you can send JPEG photos from your paired smartphone/tablet directly to it. You have WiFi/NFC connectivity here to easily connect your Android device.
It uses Dye Sublimation print technology which uses heat to transfer the dye onto photo paper. The YU YUPIX can print at 291 DPI upto 10 continuous copies at a time.
It has a proprietary cartridge which houses the Ink Ribbon and Photo Paper, preventing any smudges with your fingers. You need to download an app from the Google Play Store to wireless connect it to your Android smartphone using WiFi Direct or NFC, an iOS app will be available later. The cartridges would have to be purchased separately when you run out of the box pack, but at present there is no word on price.
It is a compact printer weighing in at 273 grams and comes with a built-in 7550 mAh battery as well. The Yu YUPIX printer will be available starting Monday, September 7th in Blue color exclusively on Amazon.in. But I would recommend waiting till availability of cartridges and their pricing is disclosed. Without a cartridge the YUPIX would just be a very expensive doorstop.
