XOLO Q600 Gaming Review

The XOLO Q600 is probably the cheapest quad-core smartphone available in India right now. It has 512 MB RAM and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. We took the Q600 out for a spin in our two part Gaming Review.

XOLO Q600 Basic Games Review

In the basic games review we played Temple Run 2, Frontline Commando, Real Football 2012, Fast Racing and Dead Trigger. We found that the gameplay was quite smooth but sometimes games just crashed out of the sudden without any reason or error message.

XOLO Q600 High-end Gaming Review

We then moved on to play some high-end games on the XOLO Q600 in our second part of the Gaming Review. The games included Modern Combat 4, NFS Most Wanted, Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 7. Although the gameplay was quite smooth without any major lag anywhere, one or two times games did crash all of a sudden.

Conclusion

It seems that 512 MB RAM in combination with a quad-core processor is not a good idea, especially on the XOLO Q600. Games and apps crashed without any error messages or warning, as if they were never open. It could be a ROM issue as well which uses a very conservative memory management policy and garbage collects the app when it requires more memory than available.

Nevertheless, gaming was a bit of a disappointment considering that they crashed. If only the Q600 would have had 1 GB RAM, with its good display and build quality, it would be a serious competition. But then again, it would not be available at this price. Win some, loose some.
