This may be the Redmi Note 3 variant we are getting in India, as we had said earlier. Just announced in China, the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 variant runs on the recently re-christened Snapdragon 650 (previously called Snapdragon 618) with four 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores and two 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72 cores. Its not just the processor, the camera has also been updated to a 16MP unit with f/2.0 aperture lens, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and dual-tone LED flash.
Other specifications remain the same on the Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 3 including the 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display, fingerprint sensor at the back and unibody metal construction. The 5MP front-facing camera has been retained and it supports 4G LTE on both SIM slots. You still have the same 4000 mAh battery but this time with Quick Charging support which can juice up 50% battery in under 1 hour.
The Redmi Note 3 will come in two variants just like the original MediaTek Helio X10 variant. You have a 2GB RAM, 16GB storage variant priced at 999 Yuan (about US$151 or Rs. 10,200) which will go on sale in China on January 17th. At present there are no details on pricing or availability of the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant.
We are looking forward to taking a look at this brand new Redmi Note 3 Pro/Prime variant which should arrive in India by the end of this month or early February after the Chinese New year.
