And you thought that smartphones couldn't get any bigger. Leave it to Samsung to make absurdly large smartphones. This time they may have crossed the boundary a bit, today Samsung Galaxy W was launched with a 7-inch HD display making it the company's biggest phone to date. Its no different from a 7-inch Galaxy Tab apart from the thinner bezels to make it "easier to hold." Pause for dismissive coughing.
Other specs include a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage with microSD card expansion, 8 MP primary camera accompanied by a 2 MP front-facing camera. There's a 3200 mAh battery inside running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead of KitKat on the Galaxy W. Coming to dimensions, the Galaxy W is quite thin at about 8.8 mm but weighs 245 grams. You also get 4G LTE-A support alongwith Bluetooth, WiFi and all the other stuff. The Galaxy W will be available in Red, Black and White colors through SK Telecom in Korea for about 4,99,400 South Korean Won (about Rs. 29,000). It remains to be seen if this device ever travels outside of Korea.
Samsung also launched its first Tizen OS phone today, dubbed the Galaxy Z which too is a mid-range smartphone but with a more pocketable 4.8-inch display.
