Of late we have been hearing a lot about the Galaxy Note 7 for all the wrong reasons, first were reports of it blowing up, then came the global recall and now a 'safe' Galaxy Note 7 has burned a man's fingers and MacBook in China.
Hui Renjie purchased a new Note 7 from China which was deemed safe, but come Monday the phone started to emit smoke while charging before bursting into flames, damaging his laptop and burning 2 of his fingers in the process.
This raises a lot of questions on the safety of the Note 7, even more so than before with new non-defective units blowing up. A Samsung representative later visited Renjie to take the phone for investigation but he declined, thinking that the company may bury the evidence on it. Instead he sent images of the phone, box, receipts and a video to CNN Money.
If you look at the box, you will see a black square box which indicates this is a non-defective unit. We also checked the device's IMEI with Samsung's database and it said that the Note 7 was safe - "Your device is not in the list of affected devices and is not subject to this recall. If you have any other questions please contact us at 1-844-365-6197"

Samsung global recall didn't affect phones sold in China as they had a different battery supplier and till now there have been four Note 7 explosions in the country. Although one was ruled out as a deliberate attempt to destroy the phone by applying external heat. But even back home in South Korea, owners of the replacement Note 7 are complaining of the phone overheating and unusual battery drain.
If Chinese units of the Note 7 aren't safe either, this could but Samsung in a lot more trouble than it already is.
