Oppo F5 has made its way to India, the new Selfie-focused smartphone from the company features a 6-inch FHD+ full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio that is becoming common in this category. The highlight apart from the display is the 20-megapixel front camera which is said to be augmented with AI beauty recognition which is able scan 200 separate spots on your face to get the best shot. You also get a portrait/bokeh mode for the selfie camera along with face unlock mode.
It comes with dedicated slots for microSD, dual SIM cards all packed in this 7.5mm thin unibody metal shell and will come in black / gold color options. Coming back to the display for a second, it is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5, a first in the segment.
The Oppo F5 runs on the MediaTek Helio P23 processor built on a 16nm process with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. On the software side, you have Android 7.1 Nougat with Color OS 3.2 skin on top. There is no word on an Oreo update, and given Oppo's previous track record, you can quite literally forget about future updates.
Coming to cameras, there is a 16-megapixel rear camera here with f/1.8 aperture lens and LED flash capable of recording 1080p videos.
You get dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio along with a fingerprint sensor. There's a 3200 mAh battery onboard which can be charged using the micro-USB port on the phone, no USB Type-C here, which is quite the oxymoron. A futuristic phone with a full-screen display and old micro-USB port for charging.
The Oppo F5 will come in Black and Gold color options priced at Rs. 19,990 for the 4GB RAM variant with 32GB storage. It will be going on sale come November 9th. The 6GB RAM variant with 64GB onboard storage will be available in black and red starting December 2nd. There is another lower-spec version in the works as well called the Oppo F5 Youth, which will also launch in December.
