Apple is going to host an event on September 12 and you know what that means. Speculation has been ripe that Apple will launch the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus along with the 10th anniversary iPhone 8 at the event.
Unlike the last two years, the launch event will happen at the Steve Jobs Theatre. The timing and location might be affected due to Apple's headquarters still being under construction.
With the September launch, Apple will be celebrating 10 years of iPhone. The iPhone 8 is expected to be a radical shift in design. Going by the rumors, it may sport a near bezel-less 5.8-inch OLED display with facial recognition technology. When it comes to touch ID, there are two rumors doing the rounds; one is that it will be embedded beneath the display and the other states that it will be moved to the back of the phone where the Apple logo resides. An upgraded dual camera setup is also expected.
Another major change expected with the design of the iPhone 8 is that it will come with a glass back, this would allow for the company to add wireless charging for the first time on an iPhone. We have been hearing rumors that Apple has been working on its own wireless charging tech over the years, but it never materialized due to the unibody metal construction of the iPhones. It is expected to materialize this time with the iPhone 8.
The iPhone 8 is expected to run on the upgraded A11 processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and at least 64 GB onboard storage. Leaks suggest that the pricing of iPhone 8 will start from around $1000 rivaling the recently launched Galaxy Note 8.
