At its #madebygoogle event, the search giant showcased a surprising number of new devices, all focusing on bringing the Google Assistant closer to you. One of them is the Google Home Mini, a smart speaker with Assistant built-in.
This is Google's answer for the Amazon Echo Dot, which too was launched recently. This compact version of the Google Home has pretty much the same functionality with the ability to stream music, control your smart home devices, check your calendar, search the internet and also make phone calls. The Google Home mini has a large hockey puck type design but more welcoming with a fabric mesh up top. There are four LEDs which show activity but are hidden when inactive.
Google also announced that right now the Home and Home Mini can recognize 1000s of smart devices and help you control them directly with your voice.
The Google Home Mini has been priced at $49 and will be available in chalk, charcoal, and coral color options. It is already available for pre-order in the 7 countries where Google Home is supported and it will ship October 19.
