Apple is back to its strategy of increasing prices of older products, as soon as new upgrades hit the market. Case in point, the company has now increased the prices of the 12-inch MacBook by up to Rs. 10000 to make them look less "affordable" compared to the new MacBook Pro 13-inch without Touch Bar.
The base variant of the 12-inch MacBook with upgraded 6th-gen CoreM internals was earlier priced at Rs. 1,06,900 but will now be retailing at Rs. 1,12,900, that's a price hike of Rs. 6000. The top-end variant with Core M5 processor, 512GB of storage will now cost Rs. 1,39,900, that's Rs. 10,000 more than the price at which it was launched.
The new MacBook Pro 13-inch variant without TouchBar has been priced at Rs. 1,29,000 making it hit the sweet spot for buyers. So, to boost sales of the new entrant, Apple has begun its price games in India. A price decrease should have been on offer given that the new MacBook Pro has far beefier internals in a very svelte shell especially keeping in mind that prices for the current-gen MacBook Pro's are already 20% higher than those in the US.
Given the current pricing, there is no MacBook under Rs. 100,000 in India since the MacBook Air has been discontinued.
