Micromax Canvas Spark Q380 Review: Great Value for Money

Micromax is beginning to understand that design is an important consideration among today's youth. The Canvas Spark Q380 is a result of that. It comes with a sleek exterior with faux-metal accents on the sides which don't look gaudy (not even the gold one) and good build quality. It has a decent rear camera and an acceptable display. The best part about the Canvas Spark is its price, just Rs. 4999. At this price it offers a good design and great value for money running Android Lollipop. There are limited options available at this price-point and none of them look as good as the Canvas Spark, nor perform as well. The Canvas Spark might just win the entry-level segment this time around. Just watch the video above if you want to know more about its cameras, call quality, design, gaming or its issues. Detailed review scores with pros/cons are listed below. Read more...

YU Yuphoria Review: Good Budget Offering, Not Without Faults

YU Televentures had a huge hit with the Yureka and while everyone was waiting for a high-end device from the company, they instead went for a budget offering. The YU Yuphoria is the company's focus on design with metal sides, glass front and plastic back. The rear of the phone does remind me of the Lumia 830 but that's where the similarities end. The YU Yuphoria runs Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop but the device is not without its more-than-fair share of bugs. The proximity sensor behaves erratically during calls, audio output from the headphone jack isn't great and the rear camera has issues focusing and maintaining proper color saturation levels, low-light imaging too is quite poor. But it has good build quality, a good front camera and good battery-life as well. If the Redmi 2 would be available with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, with its better cameras and display, that would be the way to go, since its not, you can consider the Yuphoria as an option. For more details on the YU Yuphoria including its camera samples, just watch the video above. Review scores with pros and cons are given below. Xiaomi Mi 4i Review: This Is Not The Phone You Are Looking For

Xiaomi called the Mi 4i its flagship for India. With no micro-SD card slot expansion, non-removable battery and heating/performance issues, it certainly doesn't seem to be made for India. Yes, the Mi 4i is a great looking smartphone, has one of the best 1080p displays around and good cameras to boot, but that doesn't justify the lackluster performance after the new MIUI v6.5.5.0 update. Snapdragon 615 is known to overheat on every smartphone its been on, the Mi 4i is no exception. Although to Xiaomi's credit they have acknowledged the issue and rolled out a few fixes which basically just throttle the CPU/GPU under excessive load to prevent over-heating. But that is at the expense of performance, the Mi 4i after its latest update suffers from stutters in the UI, web browsing, opening apps or any general task. Moreover, it still heats-up if you push it too hard. It seems that the Snapdragon 615 really killed an otherwise promising smartphone. At present I wouldn't recommend anyone buying the Xiaomi Mi 4i. Motorola Moto E (2015) Review: Still a good budget option

Last time around the Moto E was ahead of the pack with excellent build and great ergonomics. The 2nd Gen Moto E continues with the same tradition and gets an hardware upgrade with 4G LTE support. It performs well, runs Android Lollipop and also has a front facing camera. But things have changed, there are a lot many players with good budget offerings like Xiaomi, Alcatel, Asus, Lenovo and the likes. The new Moto E still champions better build and usability, but is let down by its cameras. But there is customization with the replaceable side-bands to make the new Moto E 2nd Generation your own. More details can be found in the video above with review scores, pros/cons of the device below. Read more...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G Review: MIUI 6 Makes It Even Better

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G spearheaded the 4G race in India. It was one of the first 4G LTE smartphones launched in India. It takes the same build and design from the Redmi Note 3G but replaces the MediaTek chipset with a Snapdragon 400 and ditches the second-SIM card slot. If you are in the market for a phablet with a good display, cameras and performance, the Redmi Note 4G should sit at the top of that list. The Redmi Note 4G is slightly bulky, but has a removable 3100 mAh battery, a micro-SD card slot for storage expansion and after the MIUI 6 update it works even better. There are several neat UI tweaks including one-handed UI mode which make using the phone a lot easier. There are a lot of features in the Redmi Note 4G, for which you can watch our detailed review above. If you want answers to any questions about the device, just mention them in the comments section. Honor 4X Review: Solid Build, Good Battery-life

Huawei Honor 4X offers a vibrant display, good battery-life and performance in a good looking package. This 4G capable dual-SIM smartphone is a good choice for anyone looking for a new smartphone in the sub-Rs. 10,000 price bracket. Its slightly bulky but the weight is uniformly distributed. The retail package is quite barebones, if you weren't one of the people who were lucky to get the Limited Edition box. Priced about Rs. 1000 more than the competition, we expected atleast a headset here. Nevertheless, you are still getting good value for money here as the Honor 4X performs well in day-to-day tasks as well as gaming. You can watch the full-review of the Honor 4X above, pros/cons alongwith detailed review scores can be found in just a scroll. Read more...

Xiaomi Mi Pad 7.9 Review: Great Display, Excellent Performance

Xiaomi Mi Pad offers great specs at a great price. It has a brilliant 2K display, unheard-off in this price point alongwith the very powerful NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset. But that power comes at a price, the Mi Pad does heat-up while gaming but not in general use. There's a microSD Card slot to expand storage but this is just a WiFi tablet. Its a good tablet for anyone looking to get some work done, watch movies or play games. But the 4:3 aspect ratio causes letter-boxing in videos, moreover a few apps are not compatible with this aspect ratio and you see a bit of non-uniform stretching. The build in general is good, but you do see a bit of creaking towards the sides. Generally I stay away from taking images with a tablet, its plain awkward holding such a huge device, but the Mi Pad has some competent cameras even though the camera interface is too rudimentary. Overall, the pricing, display, battery-life and performance make the Xiaomi Mi Pad a good choice for a non-voice calling tablet. You can have a look at the detailed review above with gaming, camera samples and performance as well as issues. Pros/cons as well as review scores follow. Read more...

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Review: Best Budget Smartphone

Xiaomi has made it a habit of launching good budget options, the Redmi 1S had software issues but got better over time. The Redmi 2 is great right out of the box, it has a compact build, bright-vibrant display, good cameras and excellent performance to boot with 4G LTE support on both of its SIM Card slots. It runs MIUI 6 which makes the user experience even better. Sure, we could do with backlit capacitive keys but these are just minor annoyances. At its price of Rs. 6999, there is quite literally no competition in the market to the Redmi 2. Simply put, its the best budget smartphone you can buy right now. We have the full-review above with an in-depth look at MIUI 6, pros/cons alongwith review scores are listed below. Read more...
