Xiaomi has begun teasing the launch of the Redmi 3S on its social media channels counting down to August 3rd. We'll know more on pricing in India after the official launch. As with most Xiaomi launches, we may also see another product launch at the event, which we are expecting to be the Mi band 2.
Xiaomi's budget Redmi 3S is expected to launch in India next month. According to our sources, the company has been planning to launch the smaller Redmi 3S with metal body, fingerprint sensor in the country for some time and now finally has a timeline set for August.
The 4G VoLTE capable Redmi 3S comes with a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display, octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor with 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB storage which is expandable with a microSD card slot. It is expected to come with Android Marshmallow based MIUI 7.
Xiaomi has also improved the cameras on the Redmi 3S, you are now getting a 13MP rear camera with PDAF for faster autofocus, f/2.0 aperture lens, LED flash, 1080p video recording. There's also a 5MP front-facing camera here for selfies. You will also get an infrared sensor here for controlling your TV and other home appliances. All of this is powered by a massive 4000 mAh battery which should easily last two days on a single charge.

We have been waiting for a refresh to Xiaomi's Redmi 2 Prime in India, and finally we may have an excellent budget option. The Redmi 3S comes in gold, silver and dark grey colors. In China, its available for 699 Yuan (about $106 or Rs. 7000) for the 2GB RAM variant and 899 Yuan (about $135 or Rs. 9000) for the 3GB RAM variant with 32GB storage.
