Xiaomi has announced a new initiative in China, inviting Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro (12.4-inch) users from the Xiaomi Community to test its innovative WinPlay engine in HyperOS internally. This engine allows Windows games to run directly on the tablet without requiring an internet connection.
Unlike cloud gaming services, WinPlay is a virtualization-based solution that enables local execution of Windows software without network dependency. Xiaomi claims that the engine achieves impressive GPU performance, with a loss of only 2.9%.
The official promotional materials also confirm that WinPlay supports Steam installation. However, Xiaomi clarified that not all Steam games are guaranteed to run smoothly—similar to limitations observed in Steam’s own SteamOS.
Early Testing and Game Compatibility -
Leaker Digital Chat Station shared an image of the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro running Windows games using the WinPlay engine. The tablet is shown running titles like Tomb Raider, and Need For Speed Series with reasonable performance and even supports Xbox controllers.
Recruitment for Internal Testing -
Xiaomi has begun recruiting internal testers for Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro users who meet the eligibility criteria. Interested users can apply via the Xiaomi Community to participate in testing this exciting new feature.
