Xiaomi has launched their flagship smartphone the Mi Mix 2 in China today. The original Mi Mix started the bezel-less trend among smartphones and is still one of the best designs in the segment rivalled only by the Galaxy S8 and LG V30 launched more than a year later.
Mi Mix 2
Xiaomi Mi Mix marked a change in the smartphone industry with its near bezel-less display. It came with a gorgeous 6.4-inch display with class-leading 84% screen to body ratio. The Mi Mix 2 ups that with a 12% thinner bottom chin.
It sports a 5.99-inch bezel-less IPS screen with 1080 x 2160 resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 403 PPI. The thin chin below the display houses the 5 MP selfie camera. Digging deep, it has a Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The company has opted for three different variants in terms of RAM and onboard storage (4/6/8 GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB storage). The internal storage is not expandable, who would require it though when you have a whopping 256GB storage option. There's no dual camera setup on the back of the device. Instead, it features a single camera with 12 MP Sony IMX386 sensor and 4-axis optical image stabilization. The fingerprint scanner found its place below the rear camera.
The Mi Mix 2 uses a sound guided speaker that is said to improve acoustics and has a 50mW power output.
It runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat and all this is powered by a 3400-mAh battery.
The base variant (4/64 GB) is priced at RMB 3299 (roughly Rs. 32339). The 6GB RAM variant with 128 GB storage and 8GB RAM option with 256 GB onboard memory are priced at RMB 3599 (around Rs. 35279) and RMB 3999 (around Rs. 39201) respectively.
The Mi MIX 2 Special Edition with full ceramic body will be available in Black and White color options, priced at 4699 yuan (US$ 720 / Rs. 46,000) for the 8GB RAM option with 128GB storage.
