WhatsApp is now finally available for the Nokia Asha 501 as promised by the company in its Nokia World event. The software update brings new UI and features available on the Asha 500, 502 and 503. The update once completed adds a shortcut which lets you install the full app. Its an OTA update and you'll get a notification within this week for the update.
The software update for Nokia 501 brings several new features, including:
- WhatsApp support
- Long swipe up on lockscreen to open camera, tap anywhere to take an image, swipe from left to see captured image.
- You can now select default sharing service including Facebook.
- Nokia Fastlane now offers a more personalized and configurable experience.
- Support for Microsoft Active Sync protocol
- VoIP support to make voice calls over data connection, starting with Nimbuzz app.
- And many more changes.
