Vivo has launched its latest foldable smartphone the Vivo X Fold2 and its first flip phone the Vivo X Flip at an event in China, as they promised. The X Fold2 has the world’s first 8.03-inch 2K+ internal display and 6.53-inch 1080p external E6 AMOLED LTPO screens with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1800 nits brightness. The screen has a SCHOTT UTG glass cover and supports a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner on both the inside and outside.
It runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, has 2448 mm² industry’s largest VC liquid cooling heat dissipation area, and is based on Android 13 with OriginOS 3. The company said that the phone has the industry’s exclusive new-generation SPU security chip, which can provide comprehensive security and privacy protection.
Vivo uses self-developed a new ultra-durable and lightweight hinge FS54 aviation-grade material, which has higher strength and lighter weight and has passed the Rheinland 40W fold-free worry-free test. The water drop hinge’s diameter is now 5mm compared to 4.6mm in the X Fold and X Fold+. The hinge parts of X Fold2 are reduced by 83 compared with the previous generation, and the hinge weight is reduced by 30%.
The folding life of the new machine is 33% higher than that of the previous generation and can achieve a folding life of 400,000 times, as per the company. It has a triple rear camera setup where a 50MP primary camera with VCS bionic spectrum technology developed by Vivo and Sony reduces noise by 20% and increases color reproduction ability by 15%, along with 12MP ultra-wide camera with Sony IMX663 sensor, and a 12MP portrait telephoto camera. All these sensors are coated by Zeiss T* lens.
There is vivo’s self-developed imaging chip V2. When shooting night scenes, the brightness is significantly increased and uses extreme noise reduction, so the highlights are not exposed, and the dark parts have details, as per the Vivo. It is powered by a 4800mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast charging, which is the world’s first foldable phone that can charge up to 100% in 26 minutes, and the phone also comes with 50W wireless charging.
