Sony has set a date for its Xperia product launch event on September 1, where they are anticipated to introduce their latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 5 V. A prom video surfaced last month gave us a sneak peek at the phone's design and some of its specifications.
In the video, we observed a dual rear camera setup featuring the ZEISS T* symbol, suggesting the inclusion of Sony's anti-glare coating technology. The video also showcased top and bottom bezels, a 21:9 aspect ratio display, and a screen devoid of any notches. Surprisingly, the selfie camera is located within the top bezel rather than being housed in a punch-hole cutout.
Furthermore, the video unveiled other features such as a 3.5mm audio port, a sturdy metal frame, and color choices in black, white, and blue/gray. Notably, the power button doubles as a fingerprint sensor, and the phone retains its dedicated camera shutter button.
Inside, the phone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, offering versions with 16GB or 12GB of RAM, along with support for 33W fast charging.
Sony's Xperia launch event is scheduled for September 1st, commencing at 4 PM JST (or 12:30 PM IST), and as is customary, the company will be live-streaming the event on YouTube. We should know more details and the complete specifications of the phone when it is officially launched in a week.
