4.6 Million users of Snapchat now have their usernames and partial phone numbers available for anyone to download. Snapchat was informed of the possible hole in its API last week, but the company did not respond. All the usernames and phonenumbers with last two digits missing are now available to download as an SQL dump, around 40 MB in size or a more user friendly CSV text file from SnapChatDB.info.
Although for now the phone numbers have not been revealed completely, the hackers have warned that there might come a time when they reveal the complete data.
(This information) is being shared with the public to raise awareness on the issue. The company was too reluctant at patching the exploit until they knew it was too late and companies that we trust with our information should be more careful when dealing with it."-SnapchatDB
"You are downloading 4.6 million users’ phone number information, along with their usernames. People tend to use the same username around the web so you can use this information to find phone number information associated with Facebook and Twitter accounts, or simply to figure out the phone numbers of people you wish to get in touch with."-SnapchatDB
There's no going around this, and its a huge breach especially for users with unlisted numbers and who use the same usernames on other social networking sites.
