Today, Samsung has announced its new flagship 8K and 4K models in the 2021 lineup of televisions at the virtual CES 2021, which uses their new Neo QLED display technology. Along with this, the company also unveiled new models for their Micro LED TV lineup and their Lifestyle TV lineup for 2021. With the new Neo QLED TVs, Samsung uses a new light source that they are calling Quantum Mini LED, which is 1/40 the height of a conventional LED. This light source is then precisely controlled by Samsung’s Quantum Matrix Technology and Neo Quantum Processor.
Quantum Matrix Technology enables ultra-fine and precise control of the densely packed LEDs, preventing blooming—and allowing viewers to enjoy the content as its meant to be seen. Neo QLED increases the luminance scale to 12-bit with 4096 steps; this helps make dark areas darker and bright areas brighter, resulting in a more precise and immersive HDR experience.
Samsung’s 2021 Neo QLED TVs 8K (QN900A) and 4K (QN90A) models will also offer other features such as slimmer bezels, a new Slim One Connect Box for cable management, new audio system with object tracking and spatial optimization. Other new features include Samsung Health with a personal trainer feature, 21:9 and 32:9 game modes, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Google Duo, and Office 365 integration.
Samsung will also announce two new models in its microLED technology in sizes such as 110-inches, 99-inches, and more sizes are coming later in the year and will be available as traditional televisions with Samsung's Smart TV platform. The Frame TV in the part of Samsung’s Lifestyle TV lineup will also be updated for 2021 with a slimmer form factor, new color options with two new customizable styles.
