Samsung India has started sending out invites for the launch of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India for March 8th. Both smartphones were launched at MWC 2016 and will be available globally starting March 11.

Samsung Galaxy S7 India Launch Invite

If you haven't been following the news, Samsung decided to go for different screen sizes on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The Galaxy S7 gets a 5.1-inch Quad-HD Super AMOLED display while the edge variant gets a 5.5-inch dual-curved Super AMOLED Quad-HD panel. Apart from that all specs remain the same, including the new Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor for the international variant and Exynos 8890 octa-core processor for some regions including India. Moreover, this time around both the S7 and its dual-edge brother are water-resistant with IP68 rating and come with a hybrid microSD card slot to expand storage. So, you can either use two SIM cards or one SIM and a microSD card.

Both also get a new improved 12MP camera with what Samsung claims as superior low-light performance compared to the Galaxy S6. The rear camera employs dual-pixel auto-focus with 100% sensor coverage, meaning you can focus on any part of the image being shot, in an instant. Then you have a very wide f/1.7 aperture lens, meaning great depth of field and more light intake for better low-light photography. This by far is the widest aperture lens on any smartphone camera. Then there's 4K video recording on offer as well with Smart Optical Image Stabilization.

There is a sizeable 3000 mAh battery on the Galaxy S7 while the S7 Edge gets a beefier 3600 mAh unit. Now, contrary to popular belief these won't support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 for the SD820 variant but Samsung's own fast charging tech for both variants including Exynos offerings and not to forget, there's fast wireless charging on offer as well. Samsung will bundle a fast charger within the box as well.

At present there is no word on pricing or availability but we would be covering the event live on PhoneBunch, Twitter as well as on Facebook, so do follow us and stay tuned!
