Samsung Galaxy J7 Nxt has just launched in India and is now available from offline stores for Rs. 11490. The Galaxy J7 Nxt packs a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, octa-core Exynos processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.
This is the third J7 smartphone, Samsung has launched in less than a month. Earlier the company had launched the Galaxy J7 Max and the J7 Pro. Now we have the Galaxy J7 Nxt, however, it caters to an entirely different market. The new phone is being targeted towards offline buyers where Xiaomi is said to be gaining some foothold now.
Samsung had to alter its strategy with the Chinese entrants including Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi slowing eating into its market-share. This included having a dual offline and online strategy, sometimes even selling the same phone under different names to appease offline retailers. With Xiaomi's recent push in the offline segment, Samsung had to tighten its reign on retailers, we have heard that Samsung has even threatened to stop distributing its phones to those who would sell Xiaomi phones. But this is all conjecture at this point, we do not have any concrete evidence. In fact, we talked to some retailers here in Delhi, and they never heard of any such objection from Samsung.
Coming back to the J7 Nxt, given its specs, it doesn't seem very competitive in this cutthroat sub Rs. 15000 segment. It lacks a fingerprint sensor, has just an HD display and the build too is mainly plastic.
