Samsung is bringing water-resistance to the Galaxy A 2017 series smartphones. The company is planning to launch the brand new Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 2017 in an event on January 5th where the invite clearly shows that all three phones will be water resistant. Late yesterday, some press renders of the Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017) leaked online showing similar design to the Galaxy S7.
However, the speaker has been moved to the right of the phone, something we have already seen with the Galaxy Prime series here in India. Again, the Galaxy A3 and A5 will have a glass back which has been rounded on the sides and a metal frame providing support. The camera now lays flat on the back instead of the characteristic bulge we have seen with previous Samsung smartphones. Apart from that, you have the volume buttons on the left and the power button the right. The headphone jack is still there on all phones.
Samsung is still going with a front fingerprint sensor housed in the physical home button and we expect these phones to run on Android 7.0 Nougat at launch.
Now coming to specs, the Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to come with a 4.7-inch display, powered by the Exynos 7870 octa-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz accompanied by 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which would be expandable. It will be available in a dual-SIM variant with a hybrid microSD card slot. A 13-megapixel rear camera is also rumored along with an 8-megapixel front shooter for selfie enthusiasts. The Galaxy A5 (2017) will sport a larger 5.2-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display running on the newer Exynos 7880 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It would come with 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage which would again be expandable. Samsung is expected to pack 16MP front and rear cameras on the A5 along with a large battery. Although we haven't yet seen the Galaxy A7 (2017), it is expected to come with a similar design and run on the company's own Exynos 7880. It would have the largest display of all at 5.7-inches with a full-HD resolution. The biggest change here apart from the upgraded design and internals is water resistance which would be highly appreciated by fans. All the phones will be available in black, gold, blue and pink colors. But it remains to be seen how much that affects the pricing of the new Galaxy A 2017 series.
