Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled the industry's first LPDDR5X DRAM, supporting speeds of up to 10.7 gigabits-per-second (Gbps). Today, Samsung has announced the successful validation of its LPDDR5X DRAM in MediaTek’s upcoming flagship Dimensity 9400 SoC, set to launch in the second half of this year. The collaboration between the two companies achieved this verification in just three months.
Compared to the previous generation, this advancement promises improvements of over 25% in power efficiency and performance, and an increase in capacity by more than 30%, expanding mobile DRAM's single package capacity to 32 gigabytes (GB).
Samsung highlighted that through this validation with MediaTek, it is reinforcing its technological leadership in low-power, high-performance DRAM, with plans to extend its application from mobile devices to servers, PCs, and automotive applications.
YongCheol Bae, Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, commented:
"Through strategic cooperation with MediaTek, Samsung has validated the industry's fastest LPDDR5X DRAM, poised to lead the AI smartphone market. Samsung will continue to innovate through active collaboration with customers, providing optimal solutions for the on-device AI era."
JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, added:
"Working closely with Samsung Electronics has enabled MediaTek's next-generation Dimensity chipset to be the first in the world validated at LPDDR5X speeds of up to 10.7Gbps. This advancement will empower upcoming devices to deliver unprecedented AI functionality and mobile performance. The updated architecture will enable developers and users to leverage enhanced AI capabilities and features with minimal impact on battery life."
