Pokémon Go has finally arrived in Japan, making it the first Asian country to play the Augmented Reality mobile game. John Hanke from Niantic announced the arrival on a video giving a nod to the game's origin in Japan.
The game also comes with a tie-up with McDonald's in Japan where about 400 restaurants will be "gyms" in the game while 2500 other outlets will be PokéStops.
Pokémon Go has become a phenomenon around the world, even in India where meetings, walks are being organized, even though the game hasn't officially launched here. The game's success propelled Nintendo's stock to an all-time high adding $23 Billion to its market value.
Niantic has been slow in rolling out the game in other regions as they build up to get more servers online. Over the last few weeks there have been multiple DDoS attacks and server failures, given the popularity of the game. But the company has fought back and has now brought the game where it all began 20 years ago.
This will be a test for their servers as Japan too gets engulfed in Poké-mania.
