OPPO has officially announced the launch of the OPPO Reno12 5G Series, comprising the Reno12 5G and Reno12 Pro 5G models, in India on July 12, 2024, after launch in the Global Market.
Dubbed as "Your Everyday AI Companion," the Reno12 series aims to elevate user experience through advanced AI capabilities, robust durability, and elegant design, according to the company.
Display -
Both models of the Reno12 series feature a Quad-Micro Curved Infinite View screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Pro variant and Gorilla Glass 7i on the base model. The 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz Flexible AMOLED display boasts a 43° quad-micro curve, resulting in narrow 1.69mm side bezels and a remarkable 93.5% screen-to-body ratio. The 10-bit panels support 1.07 billion colors, ensuring smooth and lifelike colour transitions even in bright outdoor conditions, with peak HDR brightness reaching up to 1200 nits.
Durability -
The series is equipped with All-Round Armour protection inspired by sponge-like resilience to enhance drop and impact resistance. Its High-Strength Alloy Framework, incorporating metals such as copper, magnesium, and silicon, ensures a robust and corrosion-resistant build that meets aerospace standards. Both models are IP65-rated for dust and water resistance, reinforced with durable components like speakers, USB-C port, and SIM card tray. The Reno12 Pro undergoes SGS Premium Performance 5 Stars Multi-scene protection testing, covering water and shock resistance among other features. The Reno12 includes SGS Performance 5 Stars Multiscene Performance certification, featuring low blue light and a flicker-free screen for reduced eye fatigue.
Design -
In India, the Reno12 Pro 5G will be available in Sunset Gold and Space Brown. Its Dual-Texture Back combines Asahi Dragontrail and Panda Glass, featuring OPPO Glow technology on the top half for smudge resistance and a smooth lower glossy area adorned with the OPPO logo. The Reno12 comes in Sunset Peach, Matte Brown, and Astro Silver colors. Astro Silver incorporates OPPO's Fluid Ripple Texture for a liquid-like illusion, while Sunset Peach offers a fresh interpretation of the 2024 color of the year through graphic liquid crystal processing. Matte Brown provides a classic cocoa hue in a fingerprint-resistant finish.
Processor and Battery Life -
Powering the Reno12 series is the advanced 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy SoC, equipped with the MediaTek APU 655 for enhanced AI performance. This enables features such as AI Clear Face, AI Writer, AI Recording Summary, and AI Eraser 2.0.
Both models boast a substantial 5000mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, capable of fully charging from 0% to 100% in just 46 minutes. The series guarantees four years of battery durability, ensuring reliability for long-term use.
Camera -
The Reno12 series integrates AI-driven camera capabilities. The Reno12 Pro features a 50MP primary camera with Sony’s LYT-600 sensor and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), accompanied by a 50MP telephoto camera utilizing the Samsung JN5 sensor for 2x portrait zoom and up to 20x digital zoom. Additionally, it includes an 8MP IMX 355 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 112° field of view (FOV). For selfies, the Reno12 Pro employs a 50MP JN5 sensor with autofocus and a 90° FOV.
The Reno12 replaces the Pro’s telephoto camera with a 2MP OV02B10 macro camera capable of close-up shots from as near as 4cm, and a 32MP GC32E2 sensor by GalaxyCore for front-facing selfies.
The front camera features facial recognition that adjusts for up to 296 facial parameters, ensuring natural-looking shots in every capture. OPPO’s Tone Mapping Control algorithm further enhances brightness and color accuracy across various environments and skin tones, delivering lifelike images.
Enhanced Connectivity and User Experience -
The Reno12 series leverages OPPO’s proprietary AI LinkBoost technology, reducing network lag by up to 25% and optimizing signal recovery in challenging environments.
The phones ensure seamless voice communication via VoWiFi and intelligent network selection with dual SIM support. Certified by TÜV Rheinland for High Network Performance, the Reno12 series guarantees superior connectivity.
The OPPO Reno12 Series will be available for purchase on Flipkart, OPPO India online store, and offline stores following the launch. Pricing details will be disclosed next week upon the phones' official release.
