Oppo has scheduled an event for October 19th in China where the R9S and R9S Plus are expected to be launched. Till now we have seen teasers and a few bits of information about the phones. Now, we have some detailed specs and renders of both phones.
The new leak coming in from China showcases some basic specifications about the phones along with an image of the phone.
The biggest change you see here is that there is a front facing fingerprint sensor here embedded in the home button, something we have been seeing of late with Oppo smartphones including the recently launched Oppo F1S. A front facing flash is also expected to arrive on both smartphones.
So let's dive into the specs of both phones. The Oppo R9S is said to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 16MP f/1.7 rear camera with Sony IMX398 sensor, Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB RAM. There's 64GB of onboard storage and just like most other Oppo smartphones there are two SIM card slots here too. As well as a 3010 mAh battery to keep everything powered. Strangely the listing says that the phone will still run on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Color OS 3.0 which does make us question the authenticity of the leak.
The Oppo R9S Plus is expected to have a 6-inch 1080p display, a massive 4000 mAh battery and what is being called the Snapdragon 653 octa-core (MSM8976 Pro) processor which may just be an overclocked SD 652. The highlight here would be 6GB RAM which would be accompanied by 64GB storage.
Again given this is not an official announcement, we would take this with a grain of salt. But October 19th is not that far away and we would know for sure then.
