The OnePlus Open Foldable smartphone, initially rumored to launch on August 29th, experienced a delay in its release schedule. During the TechCrunch Disrupt 2023 event, Robin Liu, CEO of North America for OnePlus, confirmed the imminent launch of their very first foldable smartphone.
OnePlus has announced that additional information about the upcoming OnePlus foldable phone will soon be made available through the official OnePlus website, OnePlus forums, and their social media channels. However, a credible source, Max Jambor, has indicated that the smartphone is set to be officially unveiled on October 19th in the Global Market.
Recent renders, which surfaced last month, showcased a design reminiscent of the OPPO Find N2, featuring rounded sides but with a flat frame, distinguishing it from the curved frame of the OPPO Find N2. These renders also revealed an enlarged rear camera module housing three prominent sensors, including a periscope telephoto camera, as well as a flash positioned in the left corner, outside the camera cut-out.
Earlier speculations have suggested that the device will feature a 7.8-inch 120Hz foldable inner AMOLED display and a 6.3-inch 120Hz outer AMOLED screen. It is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, offer up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage, and house a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. Additionally, it is expected to be equipped with a 4,800mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC fast charging.
We should know more details and the exact price of the phone when it is officially launched next month.
