It's no wonder we are seeing more and more leaks about new Nokia Android smartphones. Now we have first hands-on images of the Nokia E1 and Nokia D1C Android smartphones straight out of China.
The company has now formally announced that they are going to launch Android smartphones under HMD Global early next year, and some of the phones may actually be seen at MWC 2016. Coming back to the new leak, the Nokia E1 is being touted as another budget smartphone from the company. Earlier we had heard that the Nokia D1C would come in two variants, a budget option, and a mid-range option. Now, it seems that the budget phone will be called Nokia E1 according to the firmware build of the device.
Now, we have also heard that the Nokia E1 would run on Snapdragon 600 series chipset with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box possibly running the Nokia Z launcher. It will pack 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage. Now, if you closely look at the images below, you will see that the Nokia E1 has three capacitive buttons at the bottom while the Nokia D1C (pictured below in black) has a fingerprint sensor flanked by two capacitive buttons.
So, from the sketches, it is quite clear that the Nokia E1 won't have a fingerprint sensor and given that the phone would be priced under Rs. 10,000 in India, we can live with it. But this is all conjecture at this point as we don't have any confirmation from Nokia as to what they are planning for MWC 2017. Till then we would suggest taking this with a grain of salt, till we hear something concrete.
