While the Moto G4 series is already quite confusing with the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, Lenovo is throwing in another smartphone in the mix albeit at budget pricing. The Moto G4 Play will be launched on September 6th in India and is an Amazon Exclusive.
Last we heard about the Moto G4 Play, it was being imported to India for testing. It features a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display running on the Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage. It has an 8MP rear and 5MP front facing camera for selfies.
Moto G4 Play Key Specs and Features
- 5.0 inches HD IPS Display (720 x 1280 pixels, 294 ppi)
- Quad-core 1.4 GHz, Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 Processor
- Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)
- 2GB RAM, 16GB Storage, Expandable with microSD card slot
- 8 MP primary camera with LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture
- 5 MP front facing camera
- 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, FM Radio
- 2800 mAh Li-Ion Battery
Android Marshmallow takes care of in house management and it may be upgradable to Nougat. At 9.9mm in thickness, the Moto G4 Play isn't the slimmest of phones but does pack a 2800 mAh battery, still managing to keep the weight under 140 grams.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G LTE support, WiFi, GPS and FM Radio. There's no dust or water resistance here, unlike the last-gen Moto G3 which is currently selling for about Rs. 11000. However, you do get P2i nano-coating to prevent damage from minor water splashes.
Pricing would be the key here. If Lenovo is able to get the price down to about Rs. 9000, the Moto G4 Play may turn out to be a hit.
