At its launch event in Delhi, Micromax today launched the Canvas Sliver 5. Its the thinnest device end-to-end at just 5.1mm and weighs in at 97 grams. There are slimmer devices in the market, but this one doesn't have a camera bump, hence its slimmest end-to-end.
Coming to specs, the Canvas Sliver 5 has a 4.8-inch HD AMOLED display clad in Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB non-expandable storage running Android 5.0 Lollipop on top. It is a single-SIM device and there's no microSD card slot. Even in this thin frame Micromax was able to cram a 2000 mAh battery, which the company says is good enough for a day's worth of usage.
There's a 8MP camera at the back with Sony IMX219 sensor, and a 5MP front-snapper for selfies. It is a 4G LTE capable device and has been priced at Rs. 17,999 which might seem a bit hefty for a Snapdragon 410 based smartphone. But the phone feels really light and very well built. Micromax is also introducing new after-sales-service for the Canvas Sliver 5 and Canvas Knight 2, which includes door-step pickup and delivery of your repaired/replaced device within 7 days.
We will publish our hands-on with of the Canvas Sliver 5 in a short while with first impressions, so stay tuned.
