Meizu M5 has just been launched in China, the budget smartphone packs similar specs as the Meizu M3s which was launched last week in India.
Coming to specs, the Meizu M5 packs a 5.2-inch HD display compared to 5-inch on the M3s and also has a plastic body while the M3s makes use of metal. Both have 2.5D curved hardened glass protection in the front. Running on the inside is the MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with Mali-T860 GPU.
At present it's a China exclusive, therefore it runs on the Alibaba-backed Yun OS 5.1 with Flyme OS skin on top. You would be able to choose from 2 variants - 2GB RAM with 16GB storage or 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded on both with the hybrid nano-SIM slot on the device.
You get the same 13MP rear camera here as well along with a 5MP front camera for selfies with f/2.0 aperture lens. On the inside, a 3070 mAh battery keeps the lights on. The M5 is quite light at just 138 grams and is about 8.15mm thick. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support, USB OTG, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth as well as GPS. There is also a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button up front which can perform various tasks on single tap, long tap or press similar to other Meizu smartphones.
Meizu M5 Pricing and Availability
The M5 from Meizu has been priced at 699 Yuan (Rs. 6900 / $103) for the 2GB RAM variant and 899 Yuan (Rs. 8900 / $135) for the 3GB RAM variant. You will be able to choose from Mint Green, Glacier White, Champagne Gold, Sapphire Blue color options. It is already available to order starting today in China and will be going on sale in November. There is no word on global availability.
