Its time, the LG G3 is now official. We have heard and seen a lot of this phone over the last few months. Here's everything you need to know about the LG G3.
Hardware
As speculated and confirmed this morning, the LG G3 comes with a 5.5-inch QHD or Quad-HD display meaning a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels with Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.5 GHz and 2 GB RAM running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with LG's own new flatter UI.
There's 16 GB of onboard storage on the G3, but you can also get the 3GB RAM variant with 32 GB storage. There's a removable 3000 mAh battery inside as well as a microSD card slot. The main focus as in most of today's smartphones is the camera, the LG G3 doesn't skimp here. It comes with a 13 MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization as well as infrared laser autofocus (more on that later).
Design
The G3 is a mix of design fundamentals when it comes to today's smartphones with LG's own twist of back-mounted buttons. Its curved back measures just 2.75mm at its thinnest and increases upto 9.1 mm at the center. LG describes the back as "metallic skin", which is scratch resistant but not not self-healing like the LG G-Flex.
The buttons on the back of the G3 are a definite improvement from the previous design and are now flatter, protrude less as well. Keeping with the intended shape of the phone. The LG G3 is not a small phone especially given the 5.5-inch display, but still the company has managed to keep the dimensions in check with an almost edge-to-edge display with really slim bezels.
Then there's the Quick Circle case which would possibly be bundled with the LG G3 which adds a lot of functionality without even unlocking the phone including the ability to call people.
Software
LG has customized Android 4.4.2 KitKat to make it "simple" to use. Its flatter, streamlined and more user-friendly. With the G3, LG is also launching the Smart Notice service, its take on Google Now. It will take in data from various sources and help you in everyday-use. Like its raining outside, an appointment, location based reminders and it also features WiFi scanning so it will turn it on if you reach home or are in the office to save on your data plan.
There's a new LG Keyboard as well alongwith KnockCode as well KnockOn features which are now ubiquitous to LG's new phones.
The LG G3 will go on sale in South Korea starting next week with the European launch set for June. US launch is expected later but there is no confirmation on that front and neither on the pricing.
