Lava Iris 504Q Air Gestures

Lava has just launched the Iris 504Q, which has a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. Lava teased the smartphone a few weeks back on its Facebook page, the Iris 504Q is supposed to be the "Touch phone, that's handsfree." The Lava 504Q runs Android 4.2 and the 8MP primary camera is capable of 1080p video.

Now the interesting things about the Lava Iris 504Q is gesture recognition. The phone can identify specific gestures to change music tracks, radio stations, browse photo gallery and select images by just hovering over the device. Its akin to Samsung's Air Gestures. Apart from that the phone is quite thin at just 8.4mm and less hefty than the competition at 140 grams.

Here are the specifications of the Lava Iris 504Q:

  • Display: 5-inch (1280x720 pixels) HD IPS with OGS (One Glass Solution) technology
  • OS: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • Processor: 1.2 GHz quad-core
  • Camera: 8MP BSI Primary with LED flash 1080p recording, 2MP seondary , front-facing
  • Storage: 4GB internal expandable via microSD, 1GB RAM
  • Connectivity: 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n/, Bluetooth, USB OTG, GPS
  • Battery: 2000 mAh

Although the specifications of the Lava Iris 504Q are above mid-range but the phone is still priced at Rs. 13,499, and will be available with an intelligent backcover, which probably shuts the display when it is closed and wakes it up when opened. The Iris 504Q will be available in retail stores beginning the last week of June.
