Hyve Mobility, a new manufacturer in the smartphone space based in New Delhi, India has just launched 2 phones, the Hyve Buzz and Storm in India.
The Buzz is the company's flagship of sorts and comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 2.5D curved glass running on the 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor with 3GB RAM , 16GB storage which is expandable with a dedicated microSD card slot and you will also get a 32GB card within the box.
It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box which is almost stock and is upgradable to Marshmallow. There's a 13MP rear camera with an un-named Sony Sensor, dual-tone LED flash as well as a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. Hyve has also added a fingerprint sensor at the back above which is a hexagonal notification LED, yes at the back. The 2500 mAh battery on the phone is non-removable.
The phone has a weird design, with the volume and power buttons moved to the back towards the left edge. The device does taper at the sides but its not easy to press those buttons. The company also claims that the Buzz is IPX4 rated, means it can withstand splashes of water and light rain. That is accomplished by closing all the ports with flaps, which isn't the most intuitive way of going about water resistance. There's 2 year warranty on offer here with 1 year accidental damage cover.
Hyve Storm
This is their budget offering with a 5-inch 720p HD display running on the quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage which is expandable with the hybrid microSD/2nd SIM slot. There's 1 year warranty on the Hyve Storm with accessories as well as 1 year free accidental damage cover.
Just like the Buzz it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop but will be upgradable to Marshmallow. There is a 13MP rear camera here as well with an ISOCELL Samsung sensor and Phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). A 5MP camera sits in the front for selfies. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM Radio with a 2000 mAh battery powering it all up.
Hyve Buzz and Storm: Pricing and Availability
Hyve Buzz has been priced at Rs. 13,999 and comes in twilight black, midnight blue and sunset wine colors. The Hyve Storm comes in snow white and mystic grey colors priced at Rs. 8,499. Both phones will be available from Flipkart, Amazon and Gadgets360 starting June 22nd.
