Humane, based in San Francisco, has introduced its inaugural product, the Ai Pin, a compact digital assistant. This square gadget, easily attachable to clothing or surfaces through a magnetic clip, also functions as a battery pack.
Fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, it utilizes a combination of a camera, depth sensors, and motion sensors to observe its surroundings. Featuring a personic speaker and Bluetooth connectivity for headphones, the Pin is distinctive for its absence of a screen.
Interaction primarily relies on voice commands, with added functionalities such as a green laser projector for displaying information on your hand. Gesture-based commands can be executed through the touchpad. Unlike continuous recording, the Pin necessitates manual activation, indicated by a Trust Light when recording is initiated.
Running on the Cosmos system, it effortlessly taps into various AIs and tools, akin to the plugin system employed by ChatGPT. This aligns with reports indicating that the Pin is powered by GPT-4.
Going beyond written communication, the Pin facilitates real-time spoken conversation translation between English and Spanish. Its connectivity to internet-based AI services from Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, and others allows for a wide range of inquiries.
The digital assistant is adept at summarizing daily schedules, messages, and health data, offering capabilities like personalized message creation and email inbox summaries. It can identify nutritional details in food, supports Tidal music streaming with an AI DJ, and incorporates AI-driven photography features. The captured photos can be accessed through Humane's web app.
