Huawei P9 was launched in India today packing dual 12MP cameras and a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED display. The company has partnered with Leica for the cameras on the P9, which capture a monochrome and a color image.
The cameras are the real focus here, you have larger 1.25 micron pixel size to capture more light, for better low light imaging. It has an independent depth measurement chip which makes use of the dual cameras to capture information about the distances between different objects in the scene. You also have hybrid laser autofocus for locking onto your subject faster combined with the full manual mode and RAW capture support. Although there was talk earlier that Leica had made the lenses for the P9's camera but that was not the case, in fact Leica had just given its expertise in fine tuning the camera software for better image quality.
There is an 8MP front-facing camera here as well with a wide angle lens, f/2.4 aperture. The Huawei P9 is quite thin at just 6.95mm, weighing in at 144 grams but still manages to pack a 3000 mAh battery which supports fast charging. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back and you do get an infrared sensor to control home appliances.
Coming back to the rest of the specs, you have the Kirin 955 octa-core SoC which consists of 4 higher-powered Cortex-A72 cores and 4 power-efficient Cortex-A53 cores running the show with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1. The P9 is a dual-SIM phone but with a hybrid SIM slot, meaning you can either use two SIM cards or one SIM card and one microSD card to expand storage.
Connectivity options aren't limited either, you have dual-band WiFi ac, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and the USB Type-C port with support for fast charging, USB OTG. But how much does it cost?
