Huawei has been teasing its first tri-fold smartphone for several weeks, and the device finally has a name: Mate XT. The Mate series, one of Huawei's two flagship smartphone lines alongside the Pura series, is known for targeting early adopters. It was the first to introduce a foldable device with the Mate X in 2019.
The Mate XT will be part of Huawei's Ultimate Design brand, the company's highest-end lineup and the spiritual successor to the Huawei-Porsche Design partnership, which ended in 2022. A recent teaser video hints that the Mate XT will emphasize video recording with continuous zoom capabilities, although specific details have yet to be revealed. The Mate XT is expected to feature a 10-inch screen when fully unfolded.
Huawei Chairman Richard Yu has been seen holding the Mate XT in promotional materials. Huawei will host a special launch event on September 10, where the Mate XT will make its debut alongside other devices, including the Watch GT 5, Watch D2, and a five-seater version of the Aito M9 electric vehicle.
