HUAWEI has begun teasing the design of the Mate XT, which is set to be the world’s first phone with a tri-fold screen, after the official announcement is anticipated in China on September 10th. The teaser video does not yet show the tri-fold screen design but highlights the octagonal lens design, a periscope telephoto camera, and a sleek metal body. The rear design is similar to that of HUAWEI’s Mate X5 foldable phone.
The back of the device features both the HUAWEI and ULTIMATE DESIGN logos and is crafted from leather. The Mate XT will use a screen from BOE and is expected to feature a custom three-fold display that unfolds into a large tablet-sized screen.
BOE Chairman Chen Yanshun mentioned at the BOE IPC 2024 conference that Mate XT’s tri-fold screen is the result of extensive collaboration between the two companies.
Additionally, HUAWEI has announced that popular actor and musician Andy Lau will be the ambassador for the phone, making an appearance in the teaser video.
