Huawei Honor 5X launching in India soon, scheduled to get Marshmallow update

Huawei is all set to launch its metal-clad Honor 5X smartphone in India by the end of January. The new smartphone from the company boasts better hardware, build and performance.


Coming to the specs, the Honor 5X has a 5.5-inch full-HD 1080p IPS display, running on the Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage. There is a 2GB RAM variant as well, but Huawei is slated to bring the 3GB RAM variant to India.

The Honor 5X is a dual-SIM 4G LTE capable device and has a microSD card slot to expand storage as well. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with EMUI 3.1 on top and is scheduled to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with EMUI 4.0 soon. Huawei has also worked on the imaging department, you now have a 13MP rear camera with a Sony/Samsung sensor and a 5MP front-camera for selfies.


The unique feature of the Honor 5X is its metal build which is rare in this price segment. Then there's a fingerprint sensor onboard as well, Box speakers with a separate PA chip alongwith a rather sizeable 3000 mAh battery all in a svelte 8.15mm thin metal shell weighing in at 158 grams.


Pricing and Availability

The Huawei Honor 5X will come in Silver and Gold colors. It was launched in China in October for 1399 Yuan for the 3GB RAM variant which amounts to about Rs. 14,400. We'll know more about pricing and variants at the launch in late January, stay tuned.


Update

Huawei has begun sending out invites for the launch of its Honor devices on January 28th in India. More than one device are expected at the launch, therefore apart from the Honor 5X we may see the Honor Holly 2 budget smartphone launching at the event as well.
