Samsung just launched the Galaxy J3 in India which comes with a very specific feature aimed for Indian customers. The S Bike mode works to made a bike ride safer and at the same time rewarding as well.
First of all, you can trigger the S Bike mode in two ways:
- Using the NFC Tag that you get within the box
- Right from the Quick Toggles in Notification Shade
What does the S Bike mode exactly do?
The S Bike mode on the Galaxy J3 starts a "Do Not Disturb" mode on your device, which doesn't allow you to interact with any part of the interface apart from the mode itself. Moreover, it also acts as an answering machine where your calls get automatically answered by the Galaxy J3 and prompts the caller to call you later as you are riding a bike or press 1 in case they think its an emergency.
If the caller pressed '1', the call goes through and you will hear the phone ring/vibrate, as it does usually. But only when you are under 10 kmph, you will be able to answer the call. That's where the biker safety comes in. This is what Samsung calls Motion Lock, you won't be able to use any features of your Galaxy J3 till you slow down to a safe speed.
Coming back to the answering machine you can also choose the default language of the greeting that your callers will hear from among 13 regional Indian languages or you can also choose English.
Smart Reply
This is another feature which comes baked into the S Bike mode. So, when you get a call on your device from specific contacts that you have chosen, the Galaxy J3 will automatically send them a message saying that you will reach a chosen destination in a particular amount of time, after which you would be able to call them or well probably reach them. Neat!
Rewards
Samsung has partnered with FreeCharge for rewards on using the Bike Mode. There will be several rewards on offer starting with a change to win Rs. 1500 worth Freecharge credits on your Galaxy J3 for driving around with the S Bike mode on. The Galaxy J3 2016 can determine the distance you have traveled using GPS and the S Bike Mode app to triangulate your movement. It is based on this distance that you will get reward points which can be later en-cashed for recharges, buying stuff from Snapdeal.
The S Bike Mode on the Galaxy J3 seems like a novel idea, quite like the My Galaxy rewards initiative, which essentially gives you discounts for just using a Samsung smartphone. But will it catch on, and whether people see a real benefit in this, is something we would have to wait to find out. For more on the Samsung Galaxy J3 2016, keep it tuned to PhoneBunch.
