HONOR's latest flagship smartphones, the HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 Pro have been announced in London and are coming to India on June 11. Both the phones feature 6.26-inch Full HD+ All-View displays with 91.7% screen-to-body-ratio and run on the Kirin 980 processor with Dual NPU and GPU Turbo 3.0.
The HONOR 20 pro also has a Graphene Cooling Sheet technology that can control the temperature of the phone to reduce heat by up to 27%. Moreover, this is the first time Honor is going to use a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on a smartphone.
Then there's the cameras, 5 of them on a single phone, the Honor 20 Pro. At the back, you get a 48-megapixel (f/1.4) primary camera with 1/2″ Sony IMX586 sensor and 4-in-1 Light Fusion (effective 1.6μm pixels) technology, a 16MP super wide-angle camera, and 8MP 3X optical zoom telephone camera and a 2MP camera to capture depth information and macro shots. Moreover, the f/1.4 aperture lens on the 48MP camera also allows for 50% more light compared to a f/1.8 aperture lens and offers up to a ridiculous 204,800 ISO level.
The HONOR 20 Pro also features 4-axis OIS in addition to EIS, PDAF and Laser auto focus.
At the launch event, the company said that it has scored 111 points on DxOmark similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro.
The HONOR 20 comes with the same 48-megapixel sensor but with an f/1.8 aperture lens and no Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It has the same 16-megapixel 117-degree Ultra Wide Angle camera but no telephoto camera. Instead you get a 2-megapixel camera for 4cm macro shots and another 2-megapixel camera to capture depth information for background bokeh.
Both the phones feature Dynamic Holographic Design that uses 3-layers of polymer which which give a #D depth effect when the light hits at the back of the phone at different angles. The Honor 20 Pro too features a 3D curved glass back.
Coming to battery, the Honor 20 has a 3750mAh battery while the Honor 20 Pro gets a slightly larger 4000 mAh unit. Both devices support 22.5W HONOR SuperCharge technology that can charge 50% of their respective batteries in 30 minutes.
The Honor 20 comes in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Icelandic White colors, priced at 499 Euros (US$ 556 / Rs. 38,785 approx.). While the Honor 20 Pro comes in Phantom Black and Phantom Blue colors, priced at 599 Euros (US$ 668 / Rs. 46,550 approx.).
Both the phone will be roll out across Europe and Asia soon. The company has already confirmed that the HONOR 20 series would launch in India on Flipkart on June 11.
Given the recent sanctions on Huawei by the US government and the consequent cancellation of their Android license by Google, we would recommend waiting before buying a Huawei or Honor smartphone.
