Microsoft's mint machine, the Halo series, gets a new avatar in the form of a Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 game, Halo: Spartan Assault. The Game is set in the halo universe between Halo 3 and Halo 4. Spartan Assault is a top down single player game, with controls on the touchscreen.
The story revolves around human-covenant conflict with 25 missions, in which you can play either as Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity. The game also has the ability to transfer your save games from a Windows 8 PC to a Windows Phone 8 device without any issue.
The Halo franchise has stepped into another ecosystem and its time it makes history here as well, but we'd liked to see a multiplayer scenario as well where you could compete, say on a Windows 8 PC and a Windows Phone 8 device together. But that might come with time, and at present it seems the cost of $6.99 seems a bit much for Halo: Spartan Assault, and might prove to be its undoing.
