A lot has been said about the Play Store not having tablet specific apps, and to an extent its true compared to the iPad. But there's more to it than developer support. The iPad is just one tablet, while there are tens of Android tablets and making an optimized app for each tablet which offer different resolutions is not easy and monetarily not possible. But Google has come to the rescue of customers, the Play Store now sports a "Designed for Tablets" sub-category which contains apps designed for the larger display and not just stretched-up phone apps. This will be shown in the Top lists when you access the Play Store with your Android tablet.
Its a welcome addition, which will make millions of Android tablet users really happy. The apps or games that do not fall in this new category will be labeled "Designed for Phones". You can ofcourse download any app, whether its optimized for tablets or not. Its definitely a value-add for Android tablet users and for developers alike as they now have a reason to make apps for tablets which will have their own category and become more noticeable.
