Google Pixel Fold2 and Flip leak.

A new foldable Google phone, provisionally referred to as 'Comet,' has made an appearance, according to a report from 9to5google.com. The most recent update of the Google Pixel Buds app, released today, indicates Google's preparations for its upcoming fall Pixel phone lineup. This lineup encompasses the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, codenamed Shiba and Husky, which are well-documented. In addition to these familiar Pixel phones, there's a distinct device referred to as Comet.

It's worth noting that Comet is unlikely to be a part of the Pixel 8 series, as it deviates from the naming convention based on dog breeds. For example, the Pixel Fold was initially codenamed 'Passport' but was later changed to 'Felix' to align with the Pixel 7 series.

It's noteworthy that the Pixel 9 series is anticipated to adopt reptile-related codenames such as Komodo and Caiman. Delving deeper into the code of the Pixel Buds app, it becomes apparent that Comet is grouped with the Pixel Fold and is denoted as a 'foldable' device within the app.

Although the Pixel Fold is relatively recent, it remains uncertain whether Comet represents an early step in the preparation for the Pixel Fold 2 or a potential Pixel Flip, designed to compete with Samsung's foldable smartphones.

Considering the limited information available regarding Comet's features, it appears probable that it won't adhere to the conventional annual Pixel release pattern, as indicated by its codename in the report.
