Gionee has just made its monster of a phone, the Gionee M2017 official. The main highlight of the M2017 apart from its design is its 7000 mAh battery. The phone has two 3500 mAh battery units inside which are charged separately by two charging circuits.
The company promises a whopping 25 hours of continuous video playback and more than a month of standby time, quite rare apart from feature phones. The phone supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 with dual fast charging chips so that you can still get a quick top-up when required.
Coming to the things a bit less interesting, there's a 5.7-inch Quad-HD AMOLED display with curved sides in the front. It is covered in virtually unscratchable Sapphire glass. The M2017 has the Snapdragon 653 SoC under the hood with Android Marshmallow running the show. There's 6GB RAM for all your gaming, multitasking needs, and 128 GB or 256 Gb of non-expandable storage depending on which variant you end up buying. The cameras here are interesting too. Taking a page from Apple's book, the Gionee M2017 too packs a standard 12-megapixel rear camera along with a second 13-megapixer rear camera with telephoto lens for 2X optical zoom. Selfie experts would be happy to know that there's an 8-megapixel front camera here too.
Keeping in line with all the high-end hardware on the phone, Gionee hasn't skimped on the fingerprint sensor, which can be found in the front flanked by two capacitive keys for recent apps and back. Check Out: Gionee M2017 vs the Competition
Now, here's the kicker, pricing. The Gionee M2017 costs a whopping $1000 or Rs. 68000 in China (6999 Yuan) for the standard variant. Then there's an Italian leather variant with alligator skin back which costs a ridiculous 16,999 yuan or $2450 (Rs. 1.65 lakhs). Yeah.
If you are interested though, and we wouldn't blame you, then the Gionee M2017 is already up for pre-order in China.
