Your Facebook profile page is the first thing new friends see, and according to the company, profile pages cumulatively are viewed 4 billion times a day. So, Facebook thought it was time for an overhaul after nearly a decade of status-quo.
Introducing the new profile page on mobile which features a large profile photo in the center, but that's not all. You can even choose a 7-second video as your profile picture. Facebook will also give you an option to set temporary profile pictures/video for a duration to celebrate a particular event, supporting your team before the big game or something that you might be going through then.
Its a creative, fun expression of who you are, just what a profile page on Facebook should be about. Its dynamic, eye-catching and puts you front and center. The new profile will also ask you to write something about yourself, highlighting who you are. Moreover, you would also be in control of which featured photos show up on the profile page, adding another layer of customization. Then you have your friends section followed by the Timeline.

Generally photos that either are taken of us or we are tagged in appear on the profile page without any control. This time around its great to see Facebook giving user the control of what they want to share and to an extent how they want to be perceived. So that the Taylor Swift concert photo might not jump ahead if you don't wish for it to, not that there is anything wrong with it.
Profile videos are going to make Facebook a lot more fun, moreover the company is also experimenting with adding 3D videos in the stream which can be viewed by moving your phone around. There's a lot changing with the user experience on Facebook, the new Profile page is one such welcome change.
