Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) unveiled a new logo today, symbolizing its steadfast mission of “Connecting Bharat – Securely, Affordably, and Reliably.” At the launch event in New Delhi, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia introduced seven new BSNL services, including a spam-free network, Wi-Fi roaming, and direct-to-device connectivity.
New BSNL Services -
BSNL, in partnership with CDAC, is rolling out low-latency 5G connectivity for mining operations, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance. This initiative leverages Made-in-India equipment, highlighting the nation’s progress in the telecom sector.
In addition to 5G, BSNL has developed its own 4G telecom stack, ensuring a smooth transition to 5G. The company has also introduced innovative features to improve user experience and security, including a built-in spam blocker that automatically detects and filters phishing attempts and malicious SMS.
Another notable service is Wi-Fi roaming, which allows users to seamlessly connect to BSNL FTTH Wi-Fi networks while on the move. BSNL FTTH users now also have access to over 500 premium TV channels via the company’s fiber-based intranet live TV service.
To enhance accessibility, BSNL has introduced automated SIM kiosks that provide 24/7 service for purchasing, upgrading, porting, or replacing SIM cards. These kiosks are integrated with digital payments and seamless KYC verification, making it easy for users across India to access telecom services.
Satellite-to-Device Connectivity -
In a major technological breakthrough, BSNL introduced India’s first satellite-to-device connectivity solution for SMS, functioning on land, air, and sea. This technology merges satellite and terrestrial mobile networks to ensure reliable communication, particularly in emergencies and remote areas. It also facilitates UPI payments in regions with limited network coverage. BSNL also unveiled a unified network solution for disaster management.
At the event, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said:
"BSNL has been a flagship government enterprise, embodying the aspirations and expectations of every citizen. The new BSNL logo symbolizes strength, trust, and accessibility.
Since the launch of 4G, BSNL’s subscriber base has grown from 7.5 million to 18 million in the last six months. India is among only six countries worldwide to have developed its own 4G telecom network, with a migration to 5G on the horizon.
BSNL aims to lead technological innovation, with plans to establish 100,000 4G sites by mid-2025 and continue upgrading its services. We hope BSNL will always remain at the cutting edge of tech advancements."
