Asus has just begun sending out invites for the launch of a new smartphone in India. The invite says "#Liv3UnpluggedInStyle" clearly hinting at the Zenfone 3 Max, which is one of the only few ZF3 devices which haven't made their way to India.
The Zenfone 3 Max comes with a smaller 5.2-inch display compared to the previous-gen Max but it keeps the 720p resolution. You also have 2.5D Gorilla Glass protecting the front panel of the device. On the inside, you have the MediaTek MT6737 powering the device with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. There is a 2GB RAM variant as well but Asus is expected to launch only the 3GB RAM variant in India.
Update: Zenfone 3 Max launched in India starting at Rs. 12,999 in two variants
But as it is with all Zenfone Max devices, it is about their massive batteries. The Zenfone 3 Max carries the same tradition with an albeit smaller 4100 mAh battery possibly to keep the weight in check in a smaller form factor to make the device more pocketable. The last-gen Zenfone Max lasted really long on its 5000 mAh battery but it was very bulky to use. The Zenfone 3 Max seems petite in comparison with its 8.55mm thin metal shell and weight of 148 grams. Before I forget, there is a fingerprint sensor at the back as well along with a 13MP camera.
Moving to the front you will see that the buttons are now on-screen, the bottom chin just has the Asus logo instead of at the top. Connectivity options here include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support with a hybrid slot to expand storage, dual-band WiFi, GPS, FM Radio and Bluetooth. Unlike the higher-end Zenfone 3 models, you have a micro-USB data syncing and charging port here.
