During its iPad event, Apple unveiled the Pencil Pro, its latest stylus designed for iPads, offering advanced features like squeeze, barrel roll, and haptic feedback, catering to both casual and creative users.
Apple has incorporated a new sensor within the pencil's barrel, enabling it to detect a user's squeeze. This allows users to swiftly switch between tools, line weights, and colors. Moreover, a haptic engine provides confirmation feedback when users squeeze or double-tap.
Furthermore, the inclusion of a gyroscope permits users to roll the Pencil Pro for precise control, mimicking the orientation changes of pen and brush tools on paper. Additionally, a hover functionality enables users to preview precisely where their Apple Pencil will make contact with the display.
Similar to other styluses, the Pencil Pro offers double-tap functionality, facilitating quick switching between tools such as pen and eraser. Apple has also integrated the Find My App feature, aiding users in locating misplaced Pencil Pros.
Weighing approximately 20g, the Pencil Pro utilizes Bluetooth for connectivity and magnetically attaches to iPads for pairing and charging. The Apple Pencil Pro is compatible with iPad Pro 13" (M4), iPad Pro 11" (M4), iPad Air 13" (M2), and iPad Air 11" (M2) running iPadOS 17.5 or later.
